How to clean your Diamonds

A diamond is the world's hardest natural material, but some simple maintenance and cleaning is needed to keep it looking its best. Skin oils, cosmetics, dirt and oils you come in contact with will dull your diamonds and cause it to lose its beautiful brilliance.

Give your diamond a bath:

This is probably the simplest way to bring back the sparkle. Just soak your diamond jewelry in a bowl of warm water and mild detergent for 30 minutes. Then, take a toothbrush and give your diamond a little scrub getting under the it on the inside of your ring, bracelet, or pendant, etc. Finally, rinse in clean warm water and pat dry with a soft, lint-free cloth. SAFETY NOTE: Always take care to cover the drain on your sink to prevent your diamond from disappearing.

Take it to a professional:

This may be your best option. Here at Maus Jewelers, we will use an ultrasonic cleaner and a high pressure steam cleaning machine to get under the prongs and clean the places commonly missed by everyday cleaning. We will also inspect your mounting and prongs to make sure they are secure and not in need of maintenance. We recommend coming to visit us twice a year to have your jewelry checked and cleaned, and it is our pleasure to provide this service to you for FREE.
