The Maus Jewelers Story

Ray Maus and a partner started the business in 1982 renting a small shop in what was called the Stonewood Village located in Brookfield, Wisconsin. In 1983, Ray sold his share of the partnership and opened a store in the West Bend area. He has moved his business several times over the years but always stayed in West Bend. This small city had all the charm and character needed to raise his family.

This year Maus Jewelers will be celebrating more than 37 years in the Jewelry business.

In the early years Ray Maus was a goldsmith and had one employee to help with sales and service. The business started out very small. The shop was only 80 square feet in size, with only three showcases selling only gold, silver chains, and charms. Repairs were taken home and done in the early morning and brought back to the store later in the day. In 1986, Maus Jewelers started selling diamond and gemstone rings along with diamond wedding rings.

In 2006, Ray hired a goldsmith, Justin, who brought not only his keen eye for detail, but new repair abilities. He had schooling in repair of antique wristwatches and pocket watches, clocks, and modern quartz watches. Ray and Justin worked together to keep Maus Jewelers on the cutting edge of technology by implementing a computer-aided design program to grow their custom design possibilities and a laser welder to be able to perform repairs other jewelers couldn't or had to send off premises.

After several years serving as the store manager, Justin purchased Maus Jewelers from Ray in 2020. Though Ray has retired, his fair prices, unbeatable customer service, and happiness guarantee continue on at Maus Jewelers.

Maus Jewelers now occupies a free standing building, staffed with 2 full time goldsmiths and 3 sales associates. They carry diamond engagment rings and wedding bands, men's jewelry, gemstones, pearls, silver, watches, and more. They offer services including ring sizing, stone setting, pearl restringing, insurance appraisals, and watch repair, just to name a few.

Though business has also changed over the years, Maus Jewelers standards for quality and service have gotten better with their experience, and will continue on for many years to come.
